Give More Good

We’re prefacing this blog post by making a note that this isn’t in any way intended to contribute to hot-topic political debates or discussions (i.e. gun rights or laws). Additionally, this post isn’t intended to promote the UnFamous Movement via public tragedy. This is just our take.

This week you may have noticed another tragic school shooting in the Denver, Colorado area that resulted in one student’s death and others being injured. These instances of violence are inarguably becoming increasingly part of our regular news cycle. As tragedies of this nature continue to occur, we believe it is our civic responsibility to refrain from letting the numbness from these events from setting in.

We believe that we have one shot to live this life and that human life is invaluable. That’s why we are advocates for peace. We also believe that the security of young adults, children and students in settings such as school should be considered sacred. Breach of this space with any form of violence cannot be allowed to persist and as a community we have to find a way to deter these instances.

So we’re asking that our friends and community members take an active stand by helping to cultivate and foster, love and kindness. Random acts of kindness can go a long way even if they are unnoticed.. Little acts have big implications. Give more greetings, smiles, and courtesies. While it may go unreciprocated, you never know the positive impact you may have on someone in the moment, the next day or in the long-term.

Maybe a random act of kindness wouldn’t have prevented this school shooting. But we have to start somewhere. Help us build bridges and sew up the divide. Everyone can stand to benefit from more kindness and good.
